Central to Mimi Dojka's practice as an arts educator are Art-Based Research, Inter-disciplinary Art Education and Community Service Learning. She co-created San Francisco State University's Art Education and International Service Learning Project in Colima, El Salvador, and directs HSU's Art Education and Service Learning Program. An award-winning artist and art educator, Mimi has received multiple grants and two Service Learning Fellowships. Her critically acclaimed mask work is rooted in experiences studying with mask makers in Padua, Italy (commedia dell'arte) and Bali, Indonesia. She lives on California's "Lost Coast" where she creates mixed-media work reflecting her interests in sustainable living practices.
