Through the 1980's Vaughn was a workshop assistant with the Friends of Photography and other photo workshop programs. Vaughn worked for the US Forest Service for 12 years, doing a variety of jobs -- counting fish, packing mules, building trails in the wilderness, fighting fires, and the like. In 1991 he became the darkroom technician for the HSU Art Department. He operates and maintains the darkroom facilities to provide the opportunity for the students to be creative and productive, and to assist the faculty.
