The Department of Biological Sciences at Humboldt State University is dedicated to providing an outstanding educational experience to students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Our faculty is comprised of internationally recognized scientists who share a commitment to quality instruction and research. Our programs cover the entire breadth of biology and are designed to provide hands-on learning experiences for our students.
Because students in our department enjoy small class sizes, individual attention, and a wide variety of opportunities to gain valuable research experience, our department is recognized by many national organizations for the outstanding preparation of our students. Our preeminent programs include CIRM, (California Institute of Regenerative Medicine), Redwood Science Project, Northcoast Mathematics and Science Initiative, and the Undergraduate Research and Mentoring Program in the Biological Sciences (URM).
