Joshua R. Zender teaches corporate social responsibility, financial, managerial, cost, government, and nonprofit accounting. His research interests include performance measurement, sustainability reporting, public financial management, and exploring key emerging issues in accounting. He has published in Strategic Finance, Journal of Government Financial Management, Treasury Management, and Journal of Business, Accounting, and Finance, as well as various newspapers and books.
Before joining Humboldt State University, Zender served as a municipal finance manager and lecturer near Seattle, WA. Currently, he is a board member for the California State and Federal Credit Union, CalCPA-Humboldt Del Norte Discussion Group, and Pearson Higher Education Scholarship Selection Committee. He is also the advisor of the HSU Accounting and Finance Club and campus ambassador for the Institute of Management Accountants.
Zender is an active Certified Public Accountant in the State of California. He is also a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Technology Professional, Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor, Certified Government Auditing Professional, Certified Global Management Accountant, and Certified Government Financial Manager.
