The California Center for Rural Policy fosters “Rural Research, for and by Rural Communities” to improve the health and well-being of rural people and environments. CCRP values a research approach partnering with rural people to address their priorities and to build upon community strengths. The center is a leader in innovative methods of rural research. Our exploration of the relationships between people and their environments is grounded in an ecological approach investigating the determinants of health and well-being. CCRP examines the intersections between the health of individuals, the health of the economy and the health of the environment.
To bridge the gaps between research, community, and policy, we translate research into actionable knowledge. Our work informs policy as it affects and improves the lives of rural populations and their environments. We are a resource to rural communities – regionally, nationally, and internationally. Drawing upon the strengths of Humboldt State University, we offer policy-relevant research and training opportunities.
