Essential oils are the life-blood of plants, and for this reason, they are powerful tools for enhancing wellbeing.  Because scents affect each person differently, essential oils are most profoundly worked with experientially; for this reason, we will smell and compare many oils throughout the course.  We will begin by examining how essential oils affect the body and the mind. We will cover how they have been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine and ancient cultures to promote health.  You will leave with a strong knowledge of the basics of aromatherapy. You will have tools for working therapeutically with emotional states such as depression and insomnia, as well as recipes for general first aid and household uses. This four-week series will build on the information learned in the Essential Oil Basics class, but can be taken separately if you already have a basic understanding of essential oils.
