Wilderness First Aid / WIlderness First Responder Recertification with WMI of NOLS

Coming Fall 2014

This two-day course covers the basics of emergency care with an emphasis on extended care situations. A Wilderness First Aid certification card is awarded upon completion of the class. This certification is becoming the standard for First Aiders who are more than one hour from more advanced medical assistance. In order to recertify Wilderness First Responder through this WFA course, students must have a current WFR certification from WMI, SOLO, NOLS, WMA or WPT. Students are required to submit a photocopy of their WFR certification cards on the first day of the course. There is a one-year grace period for recertification of WMI & NOLS cards. (Keep in mind that you are not current during this grace period and therefore cannot work as a Wilderness First Responder.) Please check your WFR certification closely. WMI will not recertify cards from organizations other than those listed. CPR is not included. Please note that the registration deadline is well in advance of the course. Minimum class size is 15. Lifeguard Certification Course

September 2 - 20

This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to recognize and eliminate common aquatic hazards, accidents and injuries. Participants must be at least 15 years of age and have excellent swim skills. Includes training and certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Class space is limited.

Wilderness First Responder with Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS

January 7 - 16

This challenging 80 hour course is designed to provide outdoor leaders, instructors, guides, rangers and travelers with the knowledge needed to deal with emergencies in remote settings. This class meets national standards for urban and extended care situations and is recognized by many agencies, schools and institutions. All levels of previous training are welcome. Successful course completion earns you a WMI Adult & Child CPR certification and a WMI Wilderness First Responder certification. EMTs will earn a Wilderness EMT certification. All certifications are current for two years. Please note that the registration deadline is well in advance of the course. (RRC-ACA-SWR) River Rescue Certification RQ3/ACA Swiftwater Rescue with Sierra Rescue

February 13 - 14
A DYNAMIC water rescue course specifically written and designed for private boaters, kayakers and non-profit organizations! Basic river skills are a prerequisite! Emphasis is on identifying hazards and on RESCUE itself; both of self and others. This is the class you want as a boater to stay safe and know what to do if something goes wrong. The two day format makes the course more affordable and accessible. The course addresses the river rescue needs of rafters, cat boaters, kayakers, pack rafters, canoeists, riverboarders and SUP paddlers.

(RRC-Pro) River Rescue Certification PRofessional Course with Sierra Rescue

February 13 - 15
An Internationally recognized water rescue certification that is written for Professional BOATERS, by Professional BOATERS. It is a fast paced, scenario based course designed to develop the ability to choose good actions when a river rescue is necessary. This curriculum is for river guides and kayakers that spend a good portion of their lives on the river in a professional capacity, and therefore have a solid base of boating and basic rescue skills already.
Prerequisite: 
Current River Guide, completed guide school, some rescue training in the use of throw bags, basic knots and anchors.

ACA Instructor Certification Workshop for Whitewater Kayak

February 27 - March 1 & March 7 - 8
Become a Certified Kayak Instructor. This class is designed to develop instructional and personal paddling technique, and to prepare you to teach our beloved sport at the highest standard. Learn teaching progressions, perfect your strokes, and develop your critical eye. Current or less than 1 year expired NREMT candidates who wish to maintain national certification can also take this course for the "Transition" updated curriculum.
