Leisure Activities

Take advantage of this unique program offering personal enrichment and skill acquisition courses encompassing the arts, movement, skills, training and more! Our highly qualified Leisure Instructors bring extensive experience to the diverse range of classes offered through this program. Those interested in offering a class through Center Activities are welcome to apply, as we are constantly striving to bring a wide variety of extracurricular activities to the local community. Please review the Leisure Program's Proposal Information and Application Packet for more information.

Registration deadlines for Leisure Activities will be the first day of classes for most offerings. Please call Center Activities to inquire about the possibility of registering for courses that have already begun. You may attend the first class for an opportunity to ask instructors questions prior to registering for courses that meet more than four times.

Hypnotize Yourself for Scholastic Excellence

This course covers accelerated reading and retention. Learn to read something once, with your full presence, and imprint it on your mind so that it’s available whenever you need it. First Time Home Buyer's Seminar

March 2 – 11
Learn everything you need to know about buying your first home including how to find your home, how to finance it, and how to inspect it. Learn about escrow, offers, negotiations, contracts, insurance, taxes and more. Phillip Lazzar is a California licensed real estate broker with 30 years experience. He is a member of the Humboldt Association of Realtors, the California Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. He is looking forward to answering all of your questions.

Hypnosis Demystified

Learn what hypnosis is and why it has the power to influence and accelerate healing. Understand both the psychological and neurological underpinnings that make this therapy so potent and permanent. By dispelling the myths behind its humorous past, participants cut through the illusion of hypnotism and actually get to experience the beauty of the natural and enjoyable trance state.

Hypnotherapy & Neuro-Linguistic Programing Workshop Part 1: Enhance Your Mind and Heal Yourself

March 9 - April 1
Learn self-hypnosis to enhance the power of your mind. Lessons integrate scientific research from psychology, neuroscience, quantum physics, and spirituality. Techniques covered include: instant motivation, trauma/phobia reversal, accelerated reading and retention, test anxiety, pain control, rapid actualization of goals, and many other skills to amplify the mind and control the body’s automatic responses. Introduction to Archery

March 21

Introduction to Archery is open to archers of every skill level. This course is designed to introduce beginning archers to the basic fundamentals of the sport in accordance with the National Training System; this includes: proper posture and alignment, aiming, the release and follow through. This class will utilize the hands-on application of using a bow and arrow in conjunction with demonstrations and lectures. This course will also discuss the proper care and use of archery equipment.

Essential Oil Fundamentals: How to Incorporate Essential Oils into Your Life

March 30 - May 4
Essential oils are the life-blood of plants, and for this reason, they are powerful tools for enhancing wellbeing.  Because scents affect each person differently, essential oils are most profoundly worked with experientially; for this reason, we will smell and compare many oils throughout the course.  We will begin by examining how essential oils affect the body and the mind. We will cover how they have been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine and ancient cultures to promote health.  You will leave with a strong knowledge of the basics of aromatherapy. You will have tools for working therapeutically with emotional states such as depression and insomnia, as well as recipes for general first aid and household uses. This four-week series will build on the information learned in the Essential Oil Basics class, but can be taken separately if you already have a basic understanding of essential oils.

Hypnotherapy & Neuro-Linguistic Programing Workshop Part 2: Inner Mind Sourcing

April 16 - 30
Part 2 takes you deeper into the rabbit hole to amplify and expand your fullest potential. Second-level self-hypnosis skills provided for deepening trance to boost results. Tap into your highest creative self and amplify performance levels. Control pain, nausea, addictions, anxiety/panic and other autonomic and psychological responses. Learn how to cellularly release the past, including relationships/trauma that no longer serve you. This workshop integrates the most cutting-edge approaches to human enhancement and life fulfillment. The Inner Mind Sourcing facilitator, Kyle Wannigman is one of only six people worldwide to have this high level of certification and the only person teaching this technology in a workshop.
