Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED

September 7
This five-hour course is designed to focus on the three levels of CPR and AED. Course contents include how to recognize an emergency, preventing disease transmission, and learning to care for breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, children and infants. Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will receive a certification in Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED.

Humboldt Bouldering Association

September 8 - November 21
Self-created teams will compete throughout the semester by climbing routes that are rotated by the SRC staff. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced categories are all equally scored so that there is equal opportunity for everyone. Overall team scores are tallied and finals will be held at the end of the semester.

Zumba

September 8-December 12
Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin music and easy to follow dance moves. It is based on the principle that a workout should be FUN AND EASY to do. Zumba routines incorporate interval and resistance training. For more information on Zumba check out the Zumba website.

Tae Kwon Do

September 8 - December 17
Tae Kwon Do increases your cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and flexibility while teaching you effective self-defense techniques in realistic situations. Whether you are new to the Martial Arts, or already experienced, our proven method of instruction will help you succeed. Students can test for their first belt at the end of the semester and can attend additional classes at Sun Yi’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do, here in Arcata.

The first two weeks are at HSU's Recreation & Wellness Center Room 125, the following weeks at Sun Yi’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do, Arcata
Notes: 
An additional $20 will be collected at the first class meeting to cover the cost of the uniform.

Spin

September 8 - October 9
Spinning is a non-impact, highly effective way to build cardiovascular strength and endurance. This class includes 40 minutes of high intensity cardio set to music with a 10 minute cool down and stretch period. This class is appropriate for all levels. Class size is limited-register early! A wheelchair accessible station is available with 1 day advance notice.

Conditioning for Climbing

From power to endurance, each class offers unique insights into the different aspects of climbing fitness. Learn how to overcome your physical limitations, leaving only the mental challenge of the climb at hand! Refer to our website for a breakdown of weekly class topics.

Yoga

September 9 - October 9
Vinyasa flow yoga classes offer a creative and unique sequence of poses that are richly infused with classical yoga teachings, alignment, breathing, and meditation to calm the mind and open the heart. This class is designed to build warmth, mobilize joints, and get energy flowing through stretching the connective tissues and releasing the hips, hamstrings, shoulders and back, and using therapeutic breath throughout the practice. This is a fun class with sequences from various schools of yoga. Cultivate inner awareness while building strength and flexibility.

Core Attack

This 30 minute class targets your core (i.e., abdominals, obliques, gluteals, spinal erectors, hip extensors, etc.) through a variety of exercises all the while improving core stability, core strength, core endurance, hip mobility, coordination, and balance.

Power Hour

A boot camp style course designed to burn a large amount of calories in a short period of time. Push your body through various resistance, body-weight, plyometric, and functional training movements that will challenge your physical and mental strength. This class will give you variety and enjoyment, whether you are in advance physical shape or just starting out at working at intense levels of physical exertion.
