Center Activities is proud to present the 9th Humboldt Bay Paddlefest! The waterways, estuaries, and salt marshes of Humboldt Bay are some of the most unique in the world and paddle recreation is one of the best ways to appreciate them. Paddlefest celebrates the beauty of Humboldt Bay bringing aquatic sports, local community members and organizations, and the HSU campus together for a day of fun and play on the bay! Take classes and clinics, compete in races, and enjoy free equipment rentals all while enjoying music, door prizes and food on the Eureka waterfront! Returning this year is Awareness Alley featuring presentations and displays from local environmental and community non-profit agencies. All skill levels and abilities are welcome! Please let us how we can accomodate you.
Admission is FREE! Classes and clinics are only $5 - $10! Pre-register for activities today.
All proceeds will be donated to the HSU Center Activities Youth Aquatic Scholarship Fund.
On Water Clinics:
Stand Up Paddleboard Basic Skills - 9:30am (pre-registration recommended)
Self Rescue - 10:45am

Dressing for the Water - 12:00pm
Rack Transport Instruction - 1:45pm
Eco-tour of Humboldt Bay on the Madaket - 9:30am and 10:45am (pre-registration recommended)
U.S. Coast Guard Barracuda and other rescue craft - Open for tours 10:00am - 2:00pm
Family Paddle Tour Around Woodley Island - 2:00pm
Various Kayak and Stand Up Paddleboard roll and self-rescue demos 2:00-3:00pm during the Cardboard Kayak construction!
Eureka Channel Fun Race - 12:30 (Registration closes at noon)
Choose your craft and craft your strategy for this year's fun race! We will start from the HBAC dock and head for the Samoa 255 bridge where racers must circle any of the pilings to then reutrn to the starting line. People powered boats and SUPS only please. Prizes will be awarded
Kokatat Cardboard Kayak Race
Vessel Construction - 2:00-3:00pm
Race Start - 3:30
Awards Ceremony - 4:00pm
Your mission should you choose to have fun with it…gather a team & register to construct a kayak from cardboard and tape. Launch and paddle around a buoy, then return to dock still floating for a chance to claim the Cup for 2014. There will be prizes for the race winner, the titanic award and most creative vessel design.
