Pre-Requisites & Selection of Graduate Students

Applicants must possess preparation equivalent to the baccalaureate degree. Adequate academic preparation can best be demonstrated by a baccalaureate degree in the chosen option or in a closely related field. Applicants who lack adequate preparation may be required to make up academic deficiencies through additional coursework. Such coursework may not be used toward the graduate degree. GRE scores are not required to apply. Including them is optional.

Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the last sixty undergraduate units. Applicants who do not meet this criteria may file an appeal. To appeal, the applicant should ask the faculty that they are applying to work with to submit a one-paragraph written justification to the Graduate Advisory Council through the Graduate Coordinator. For example, the justification could point to extensive relevant work experience, strong letters of recommendation, and/or high GRE scores.

Once the application deadline closes, your file will be submitted to the faculty review committee. This process can take from 3-6 weeks.
