Natural Resources

Successful natural resources careers begin here.

Graduates of our Natural Resources programs consistently excel in both the job market and graduate school. Though we are a small university, we are well represented in the professional fields as environmental consultants, wildlife and fisheries biologists, foresters, soil conservationists, policy makers, and park rangers (to name just a few career options). Likewise, data from the National Science Foundation has shown that HSU sends a greater percentage of science undergraduates to Ph.D. programs than any other university in the CSU system.

What’s at the root of our success?

For starters, Humboldt State is home to a wide range of cutting-edge research facilities and abundant natural resources found nowhere else – including the only fish hatchery in the CSU system and the only ocean-going research vessel in the nation dedicated to undergraduate instruction.

We also combine outstanding instruction from award-winning faculty with extensive hands-on learning. This emphasis on real-world reserach hones critical thinking skills and prepares you for success in the field. It’s an innovative approach to education that has earned praise from leaders in the scientific community.
