Exercise is Medicine Program to Begin this February

Dr. Young Sub Kwon, Director of HSU's Human Performance Lab, and the Exercise is Medicine Team announce a free daily 5k walk/jog/run program for all students, faculty, and staff. The program will run Monday-Friday from 12:00-2:00pm for 8 weeks starting February 18th and ending April 19th on the campus track.

The program is part of the global Medicine (EIM) initiative to promote exercise as a vital sign of health and make active lifestyle a part of the daily campus culture.

Arizona State University PhD student Edwin Vazquez will be presenting his work on this little examined area of research beginning with refreshments at 4:30 and the talk at 5:00 in the Kate Buchannan Room.

Please join us on Wednesday,November 28th for Psych Talks: Challenges to Persistence Among First-Generation Doctoral Students presented by Brandilynn Villarreal, Ph.D.

First-generation college students face challenges in post-secondary education that make it difficult to persist. Dr. Villarreal will present work examining first-generation doctoral students, many of whom also identified as low-income or underrepresented in academia. Academic factors, social factors, and funding influenced whether or not students stayed in their programs or dropped out.
