Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) is now offering after-hours support and crisis intervention for HSU students by phone (826-3236). Staff, faculty, and parents of HSU students can also call the number to get advice on dealing with a difficult student situation as well (e.g., where there are concerns about a student’s emotional or psychological functioning).
In other news, CAPS is also now featuring anonymous mental health screenings online through their website: http://www.humboldt.edu/counseling/self_assessment.html, where anyone can take screenings in mood disorders, anxiety disorders, alcohol use and eating disorders. If students appear to have a problem, they are referred to CAPS and Student Health.
The CAPS mental health grant is also supporting “Student Health 101,” an online health magazine that features some content that is unique to our campus. The September issue can be found at: http://readsh101.com/humboldt.html
