The name of the Indian Teacher & Educational Personnel Program was officially changed to the Indian Tribal & Educational Personnel Program beginning February 1, 2013. ITEPP has included and served students in all majors in the College of Professional Studies and the College of Arts & Humanities for quite some time. The word teacher in the name was cause for confusion on the goals and services provided by ITEPP. For recruiting purposes when the word “teacher” comes up, students who are not going into teaching immediately say that they are not going into teaching and tune ITEPP out. The new name change aligns with the current ITEPP practices and services provided to students.
