Residential Academic Mentoring Program (RAMP)

The Residential Academic Mentoring Program (R.A.M.P) is a new retention initiative in the residence halls. The 2012-2013 academic year will be R.A.M.P.’s very first year and you have the opportunity to be part of it! We are currently hiring students to work in the residence halls as mentors. Academic Mentors and Lead Mentors will work with a group of 22-25 freshmen living in the residence halls. Mentors help students develop positive academic habits and connect students with resources on campus.

Academic mentors are part-time staff members that are responsible for fostering an environment of peer academic support and encouragement for all First Year Students living in the residence halls. Academic Mentors assist in achieving the goals of the program which are engagement, involvement and support. Academic Mentors will be supportive, approachable, and act as positive role models throughout the academic year, ultimately enriching the college experience for First Year Students. Specific expectations are outlined in the following link:

Academic Mentors must demonstrate continued academic progress; this progress includes passing at least 12 units each semester, with a grade point average of 2.75 or better. Any Academic Mentor who has a University and/or semester G.P.A. lower than a 2.75 and/or who complete less than 12 units will be terminated immediately.
