December 8th, 2017, students, families, faculty, and staff joined together in the Great Hall to
recognize and honor Fall 2017 graduates. The event allowed students to connect with their
Professors, take graduation photos, receive a special graduation gift, and enjoy free food with
friends and family.
President Lisa A. Rossbacher gave a speech congratulating all graduates and reminded them of
of the HSU pledge of Social and Environmental Responsibility, a campus tradition that began in
1987 and has since spread to University campuses around the world. The pledge is a personal
vow for all graduates to consider the social and environmental consequences of the decisions
they make after they acquire a degree from Humboldt State University.
“I pledge to explore and take into account the social and environmental consequences of any job
I consider and will try to improve these aspects of any organizations for which I work.”
The event concluded with a group photo of all graduates along with sentiments of excitement
and anticipation and an abundance of love and support.
