Melinda is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with specialization in sexuality and gender. She teaches in the Psychology Department and has been a long-time member of the MQS Program. Melinda teaches a wide range of courses including research design, statistics, as well as core and breadth subjects for Psychology and the MQS Program. Many of Melinda’s psychology courses continue to form the core of the MQS track of the CRGS major. Melinda provides expertise in multiple areas and has been invited to provide sexual health presentations for members of Housing, Student Life, EOP, College of the Redwoods (CR), and a number of community organizations. She's been honored by the Women's Entrepreneurial Institute and has been an invited panelist for Economic Fuel, where she has inspired innumerable young people interested in creating businesses of their own.
Melinda’s research interest is student success and she has a passion for teaching. She serves as a faculty mentor to new lecturers in the Psychology department devising effective classroom strategies that create and maintain a diverse and open educational environment.
In addition, Melinda maintains a private practice working with transgender clients, couples, and those in non-traditional relationships. She is president of Good Relations, Inc. a feminist-oriented sex-positive business based in Eureka, CA. Melinda has also continually supported a variety of student organizations at HSU including the Women’s Resource Center, the Eric Rofes Multicultural Queer Resource Center, Queer Student Union, and VOX.
