The $1,000 Homer Balabanis Memorial Economic Scholarship, in honor of founding HSU economist Dr. Homer Balabanis, is awarded annually to an Economics student based on academic achievement.

Bob R. Kittleson Economic Scholarship
The new $1000 Bob R. Kittleson Economic Scholarship Award, in honor of long-time HSU economist Dr. Bob Kittleson, is awarded annually to an Economics student who has demonstrated outstanding ability, especially relating to the study and understanding of the local economy and the problems of local economic growth.

Bob R. Kittleson Economic Education Project Award
The new $1000 Bob R. Kittleson Economic Education Project Award, in honor of long-time HSU economist Dr. Bob Kittleson, is awarded annually to the best proposal for a K-12 Economic Education project. This award is open to HSU Economics majors, HSU credential candidates, local K-12 teachers, or local student teachers who have a demonstrated interest in Economic Education in K-12 schools in Humboldt and Del Norte counties.
