Reading Certificate Program
Admission Requirements

Due to budget constraints at HSU, the Reading Certificate Program has been suspended. We hope that the suspension is only temporary.

The purpose of the Reading Certificate Program is to provide candidates with the tools, knowledge, skills, and practice necessary to help all children succeed in literacy development. Each course emphasizes that all children must read, write, listen, and speak critically, skillfully, and effectively. All courses value cultural and linguistic diversity as resources in the classroom rather than as deficiencies. This program connects theory with practice and it fosters reflective teaching.

Applicants to the Reading Certificate Program must meet general requirements for admission.
