Campus-Wide Emergency Exercise
April 28, 2000

Posted Mar-10-2000

In accordance with Chancellor's Executive Order No. 696 and our campus Emergency Management Plan, everyone on campus will participate in a campus-wide emergency exercise on Friday, April 28, 2000, as Humboldt State examines a csritical aspect of the campus's ability to respond to a disaster. Shortly after 2 p.m., alarms will sound to begin an exercise that calls for the evacuation of every campus building and the gathering of evacuees at designated Emergency Assembly Points (EAPs):

  • Redwood Bowl
  • Cypress Lawn
  • Upper Playfield (above Redwood Bowl)
  • Lower Playfield (soccer field)
  • Special Events Field (in front of Forestry Bldg)

This exercise fulfills part of the university's legal and moral responsibility to prepare for the safety of its students, employees (faculty and staff) and visitors; and, in so doing, it will help individuals develop within themselves a greater sense of purpose and direction that will serve them well in an emergency.

It is hoped that this early initial notice will help forestall avoidable conflicts with class schedules and other campus plans. As the day of the exercise approaches, more information will be distributed to the campus community and the general public.
