Current Research, Scholarly Interests, and Related Activities:
Laurie A. Pinkert draws on her background in Writing Program Administration and Professional Writing to investigate the relationships between writing practice, pedagogy, and programs. Her current projects investigate the impact of service learning on students' rhetorical abilities, the visibility of interdisciplinary writing programs in the evolving higher education system, and the effects of curricula on writing teachers. In the past, she has not only taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses within English Studies but also partnered with faculty across the disciplines to teach writing in fields such as Animal Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, and Nursing and with local community organizations to give students the opportunity to write and research beyond the classroom. She currently serves on committees within the Council of Writing Program Administrators and the Conference on College Composition and Communication.
