Career Stories

Mike Conway - Development Manager

As the Development Manager of the Community Cycling Center in Portland, Oregon, Mike Conway is tasked with raising the necessary funds to continue programs that help get children and adults from families of low income on bicycles to get to work, school, and stay connected to their communities. The Environment and Community program prepared me to recognize, analyze, and address inequities in our communities. As a result, I am using what I learned through the E&C graduate program to work with Portland, OR community members to use the bicycle as a vehicle for change.

Elena L'Annunziata - Ph.D. student

Currently Elena is a second year Ph.D. student at the University of Arizona in the Gender and Women’s Studies department where she hopes to continue to bridge theory and social practice by putting theories of race, gender, sexuality and class into action.
