Dr. Christopher Harmon of the HSU Chemistry Department presents, "Quantum Mechanics, LASERS, and Atto-second Technology."
The whole of quantum mechanics can be summarized in a relatively small set of postulates, theorems, and ideas; however, the consequence of these ideas paints a rather bizarre picture of the physical universe when compared to our everyday experiences.
Even so, the predictions made from quantum mechanics are remarkably accurate when compared to experimental observations, which indicates the universe is a much stranger place than one might expect!
Join us as we explore this very strange, very quantized, universe in a discussion of theories constructed from quantum mechanics and modern applications of quantum mechanics such as LASERS and atto-second technology.
