ZMF 2013 Concert Series: “North & South”

Time: 8:00 pm-10:00 pm


ZMF Faculty Concert featuring Javier Nandayapa. The opening set features Fumito Nunoya, Joint Venture Percussion Duo & others performing music of Kevin Bobo, Bizet, Piazzolla’s Libertango, Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, and more. For the second half, Javier Nandayapa will present an unique program of music composed for him by Mexican composers. The Nandayapas are among the most famous families of virtuoso marimba players in Mexico—where the marimba is the national instrument.

This concert is presented as part of the Zeltsman Marimba Festival 2013 Concert Series: eight programs of marimba music featuring some of the world’s top keyboard percussion artists in Arcata, California. The annual marimba festival takes place in a different location each year. This summer’s festival, based at Humboldt State University, brings together faculty and participants from 13 states and 10 countries to perform and collaborate.
