Time: 6:00 pm-Wednesday, December 4th 9:00 pm
Learn the two basic stitches, knit & purl, as you learn to knit stockinette and reverse stockinette fabric while creating a felted hat (awesome head- wear for cool, wet weather!). Continental knitting will be taught, a great method for both left and right handers. Learn to read a pattern, cast on, shape the fabric with increases and decreases, and begin to fix common mistakes every knitter makes. Finally, we will machine felt your hat for a perfect fit, and add a decorative touch by needle felting a design on the finished hat. This class is designed for those just learning to knit, and those wishing to improve their skills‐‐as our emphasis is on learning good knitting techniques, including how to take care of your hands & tendons so you can knit, knit, knit! Textile instructor Crystal Estelle‐Dobbs will introduce you to techniques that lay the foundation towards more complex knitting.
