This event begins at 7 p.m. with a showing of HSU's special "Centennial Documentary" (30 mins).

HSU's specialty Centennial beers will be featured including; Six Rivers Tin Pants Ale, Mad River Hibiscus Centennial Ale, Redwood Curtain Centennial Ale and Lost Coast Brewery Big Axe Ale.

Come raise your glass in celebration of HSU's Centennial!

Becoming California (Film)

The California Environmental Legacy Project:

Becoming California

Humboldt State University will host a free public screening of “Becoming California” a public television documentary exploring man’s relationship with the environment 7 p.m. March 8 in the Van Duzer Theatre.

The three-part special examines California’s changing environment: its natural history, natural resource exploitation, and how nature and people can better coexist. It is scheduled for broadcast this fall on public television stations throughout the country.

The documentary is part of the California Environmental Legacy Project, a statewide multimedia education initiative designed to raise public awareness about environmental change in California.

HSU biology professor Jeffrey White, one of the project’s executive producers and co-founder of the Legacy Project, and Kit Tyler, the producer and director of the film, will introduce the project and the documentary. Following the screening, White and Tyler will lead a question and answer session.

This event is free, but tickets are required.

Humboldt Symphony and Jazz Orchestra

Fulkerson Recital Hall

Humboldt Symphony plays jazz, the HSU Jazz Orchestra plays classical, and together they play an orchestral work by Duke Ellington: is it blurring musical boundaries or HSU’s orchestra slam? You be the judge at Fulkerson Recital Hall on Saturday March 8 at 8 p.m. Ellington’s “Harlem,” Delibes’ “The Maids of Cadiz,” West Side Story overture, 1940s Big Band tunes and Charles Mingus. Symphony conducted by Kenneth Ayoob, Jazz Orchestra by Dan Aldag.
