The Von Humboldt Project Sneak Preview

Time: 5:00 pm-9:30 pm


Get a sneak preview and behind-the-scenes presentation of The Von Humboldt Project, a historical and theatrical piece created and directed by Michael Fields, producing artistic director of Dell Arte International.

The performance will be offered as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Humboldt State University and then three performances will be given in Santiago, Chile as part of the international Alexander Von Humboldt Conference in Jan. 2014.

OLLI members are invited to join a discussion on the creation of this piece and the international connections Alexander Von Humboldt continues to inspire.
Following the formal portion of the class, OLLI members will witness the final run-through (dress rehearsal) with the director’s notes. All participants are invited to return to see the first full public performance.

Alexander Von Humboldt wrote of his international travels in his book Kosmos, and he became well-known, his name remaining on many places and species in the world.

Michael Fields is a founding member and producing artistic director of the Dell’Arte Company. He has co-authored and performed in over 25 Dell’Arte productions. He is also director of the Calif. State Summer School for the Arts theatre program. He is a master teacher of physical performance styles at the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre, and has taught for the Dutch National Theatre School, the California Institute of the Arts, Teater Studion in Stockholm, Sweden and at the Aarhus University Dramaturgi Institute in Denmark.
