When you pick a university, you're also picking the town you'll live in for the next few years. We're just as proud of our community as we are of our campus. Our hometown of Arcata is one of America's most interesting cities.
Head down to the plaza on any Saturday between April and November for the farmer's market packed with all the good stuff you'd expect from such a rich agricultural area: farm-grown organic vegetables, fruits, grass-fed beef, locally made cheeses, you name it.
The area also sports incredible river spots, surfing, hiking and cycling. There's plenty to do within walking distance of campus, but if you get an itch to travel, you'll find the road tripping here especially fine. Back country snow boarding, river rafting, hiking through the redwoods—the potential day trips are endless.
