The campus food cupboard opened in October 2014 and since then has provided hundreds of students with short-term emergency assistance. Run by student volunteers and interns, the cupboard is stocked regularly with dried beans, rice, canned goods, spices, and legumes—all in an effort to ensure students in need have balanced, nutritious meals.
Those who use the cupboard and need more long-term help can get help through the program applying for the state food assistance program, known as CalFresh. They can also learn more about other services such as community food banks and housing.
For more information about campus and state food assistance or other community resources, please visit the cupboard or contact Mira Friedman at Mira.Friedman@humboldt.edu.
