Personal and Research Interest

The world’s forests are at a critical moment, where climate change and societies need for ecosystem services (i.e. wood products, carbon sequestration, etc.) are increasing both the stressors on forests, and the value of these ecosystems. My research in the HSU Forest Measurements & Ecology Lab is broadly focused on conducting applied research to develop forest inventory and monitoring methods, assist forest management decision-making, and inform broader forest policy. Within this broader objective, I use field measurements, tree-rings, and remotely sensed imagery across five major research themes:
