2019 Redwoods Rising Apprenticeships

Applications for the 2019 Redwoods Rising Apprenticeship program are due Friday, February 22nd. Redwoods Rising is a new and unique collaboration between the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Redwood National Park, and Save the Redwoods League that integrates multiple disciplines to achieve landscape-scale ecosystem restoration.

Department Scholarship Applications 2019-2020

The 2019-2020 Ron Hoover Memorial Scholarship, James T. Brown Forestry Scholarship and the Charles G and Helen W. Schober Memorial Scholarship application packets are now available: 2019-2020 Scholarship Applications. The application deadline for department scholarships is Friday, March 1st, by 5:00 PM in the department office, FR 205.

All other department scholarships are now available online through the HSU Financial Aid Office. These scholarships are available through Humboldt State University’s online scholarship application, click on the Scholarships link on the home page of your myHumboldt portal to start the application. Applications must be submitted by March 2nd, 2019.

Basic Wildland Firefighter Training

Are you looking for a summer job or a career with a natural resource agency? Will your career include prescribed burning for habitat and conservation management? Do you want to improve your wildland fire knowledge and obtain national certification? This training is part of the wildland and prescribed fire qualifications system used by all federal agencies (such as the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land management, National Park Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs or U.S. Fish and Wildlife) and many state and private wildland and prescribed fire management agencies. The training is March18-22 and is offered through HSU Extended Education. For more information and registration visit HSU Extended Education.
