Department Scholarship Applications 2018-2019

The 2018-2019 Ron Hoover Memorial Scholarship, James T. Brown Forestry Scholarship and the Charles G and Helen W. Schober Memorial Scholarship application packets are now available: 2018- 2019 Scholarship Applications. The application deadline for department scholarships is Friday, March 2, by 5:00 PM in the department office, FR 205.

All other department scholarships are now available online through the HSU Financial Aid Office. These scholarships are available through Humboldt State University’s online scholarship application, click on the Scholarships link on the home page of your myHumboldt portal to start the application. Applications must be submitted by March 2nd, 2018.

Basic Wildland Firefighter Training

Are you looking for a summer job or a career with a natural resource agency? Will your career include prescribed burning for habitat and conservation management? Do you want to improve your wildland fire knowledge and obtain national certification? This training is part of the wildland and prescribed fire qualifications system used by all federal agencies (such as the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land management, National Park Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs or U.S. Fish and Wildlife) and many state and private wildland and prescribed fire management agencies. The training is March18-22 and is offered through HSU Extended Education. For more information and registration visit HSU Extended Education.

12th Annual Spring Awards Banquet

The 12th Annual Spring Awards Banquet for the Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources was held on Wednesday, April 27, on campus in the Kate Buchanan Room. Over $31,000 in scholarships were awarded at the banquet.

HSU Forestry Alumni Weekend

Every year HSU Forestry Alumni get together back in the old redwood stomping grounds to celebrate the HSU Forestry traditions. All HSU forestry alumni and families are invited. It's a great chance to reminisce, meet with old friends, see how the department is doing today, and help recruit new HSU forestry students. Department Scholarships Available

Department scholarship packets are now available in the Department office, Forestry Building 205. There are a variety of scholarship opportunities available for students. All Department scholarships are due Monday, March 28, 5PM. See Gayleen Smith in the Department office if you have any questions.
