Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Student Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks: analyzing problems with plumbing, electrical, and buildings accurately and taking prompt, effective action; maintaining a clean work environment --free of hazards; handling tools and equipment safely; effectively using drills, saws, hand tools, and ladders.
Under the direction of the Residence Services Coordinator, the Resident Services student staff serves as the front-line person with duties such as: answering telephones, greeting the public, answering questions, referring students and visitors to appropriate Housing staff and other campus departments, filing documents, preparing mailers, photocopying, faxing and collating documents, working in the JGC and College Creek mailrooms and operating the specialized in-house computer system.
The Humboldt State University Residential Computer Network (ResNet) was created to aid students' academic success by providing a means to access HSU computing resources and the Internet. Residential Computing Consultants (RCCs) at HSU are selected to assist the ResNet Coordinator in providing technical services to students living in the residence halls.
Under the direction of the Lead Custodian, the Student Carpet Cleaner/Furniture Mover performs the following duties: moving furniture in preparation of new furniture arrivals, replacing carpet, preparing for special events, and operating carpet-cleaning machinery.
Under the direction of the Lead Grounds Worker, the Student Grounds Worker performs a variety of tasks in maintaining the landscaped areas around the residence hall facilities: assisting with hauling of debris, landscaping, mowing lawns, pruning, and many other duties related to maintaining the residence halls' outdoor environment.
Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Summer Housekeeper readies the residence hall facilities in preparation for our summer conference programs. Duties include: cleaning common areas in all facilities on a regular basis, and continually preparing rooms for conference guest arrivals.
