Hire an Employee

Before any employee starts work on a grant, trust, or any SPF related project they must complete an Appointment Packet. The SPF Personnel Manual provides a general summary of HSU SPF personnel policies, work rules, and benefits.

SPF will conduct background checks of all paid individuals and volunteers who voluntarily transfer or are hired into sensitive positions as defined here. If you need to request a background check, please submit a Pre-Appointment Request Form to SBS 427 prior to extending an offer of employment.

All completed hiring forms must be submitted to SBS 427 at least two weeks prior to the employee's start date. If you have any questions or need assistance completing your packet, you may contact our front office at (707) 826-4189.

To be eligible for health benefits employees must be appointed to a .75 or more timebase, for at least 3 months (Category A - Employees). The California State University (CSU) establishes reasonable limits on the total amount of employment an individual may have within the CSU system. Additional Employment refers to any CSU employment that is in addition to the employee’s primary appointment. Additional employment limitations are based on time-base, not salary. A maximum of 125% time-base is allowed under certain circumstances. For more information Click Here.
