Po Chung: Lessons in Life and Business Found in Fish


Po Chung, center, receives an honorary fellowship at The Education University of Hong Kong in early June.

Leading people and caring for fish have a lot in common. Designing an office is like creating a fishpond; taking care of an office is like nurturing a habitat; and running a business is like fostering an ecosystem.

This is the business world according to Po Chung (’69, Fisheries Management), who founded and led DHL International and is now leading an effort to reform education in Hong Kong.

Student Send-Off Picnics

Every year, Forever Humboldt hosts parties throughout the state to celebrate new incoming HSU students at our Student Send-Off Picnics. This is a chance for alumni to congratulate incoming students, share stories about HSU, and give helpful tips on what to expect as a new HSU student.

Experience HSU Again—This Time as Our Guest!

Humboldt State University is opening up it residence halls for alumni this summer.

Choose from a variety of accommodations.
Suites have up to six bedrooms and feature a living room and full kitchen. Two and three‐bedroom apartments and traditional housing in residence halls are also available. Rates start at $35 per night (one to two people) for residence hall housing, $100 per night (up to ten people) for suites, and $150 per night (four people) for an apartment.

Accommodations available through August 12.

Updates From Campus

Campus Remembers Alex Robbins

We are saddened to share news of the loss of
23-year-old Humboldt State graduate Alex Robbins, and we extend our condolences to his family and friends.

Alex died in a boating accident while fishing off the coast of California near Catalina Island on June 2. Alex was from Novato and a Forestry major who graduated a few weeks ago. Friends and family remember him as an authentic person with an infectious smile. He was kind and had a good sense of humor.
