HSU Launches Scholars Lab

The University Library will host an opening reception of its new Scholars Lab on Monday, Oct. 24, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The Scholars Lab seeks to foster collaboration between HSU students and faculty. It will eventually house the Data & Geographic Information Systems Visualization Lab, as well as a 3D scanner and printer, a large-format printer, a projection wall, and a variety of other technology.

Wildlife Alum Honored for Conservation Efforts

Senior Conservation Officer Brian Jack (‘11, Wildlife), center, received the Torch Award from North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association President Lew Huddleston, left, and Vice President W. Shawn Farrell.

Congratulations to Brian Jack (‘11, Wildlife) who recently received the Torch Award from the
North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association. He is a senior conservation officer with Idaho Fish & Game, where he’s worked
since 2012.

The Torch Award recognizes wildlife officers who have shown a passion for conservation. The best part? Jack was nominated by fellow HSU alumnus, Bill London (‘85, Wildlife).

Alumni-Powered Engineering Firm - LACO

LACO Associates is a Northern California-based engineering firm that is overflowing with HSU alumni. Recently, business manager Kara Clower (‘05, Liberal Studies) wrote to Forever Humboldt to share some impressive stats: More than 30 percent of the firm’s staff and 80 percent of its owners are HSU alumni. When asked what helps a new HSU grad stand out from the pack, Clower answered: “Interships! They provide the hands-on experience and supports the classwork,” she says. It’s Time to Apply to Humboldt State

It's time to apply to Humboldt State

Do you know any students who belong at Humboldt State University?

Oct. 1 marked the beginning of the priority application period for students who want to attend in Fall 2017.Applications are being accepted from first-time freshmen, upper-division transfer students (60+ transferable units), returning students, veterans, international students, and graduate students.

Most students, including new freshmen, need to apply by Nov. 30, 2016.
