Presidential Investiture Events

On Thursday, Oct. 10, HSU will hold an Investiture Ceremony for Tom Jackson, Jr., the eighth president of the University. The event begins at 2 p.m. in the Van Duzer Theatre.

Seating is limited to the first 735 guests to RSVP. An additional viewing location to watch the livestream will be in the Kate Buchanan Room, University Center Building. Guests can also watch the livestream directly from their personal device at humboldt.edu. RSVP for the Ceremony online.

An Investiture Scholarship Dinner will also take place on October 10 at 7 p.m. at the Ingomar Club in Eureka. Tickets are $150 per person. All proceeds support scholarships for students.

Helping NASA Shoot for the Moon—and Mars

Just weeks before the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing, David Draper (‘85, Geology) was named NASA's deputy chief scientist and will use his expertise in planetary science to help send astronauts to the moon and from there, on to a bigger and redder thing: Mars.

Block Party Blockbuster

The 2nd annual HSU Downtown block party brought over 1,600 students to the Arcata Plaza last month. Students and community members enjoyed a zip line, teacup carnival ride, climbing wall, lawn games, and a concert.
