HSU's new President, Lisa Rossbacher, has wrapped up her first month. In between meeting with the campus community and tending to a busy schedule, she and her husband, Dallas along with their Doberman, Tango, have been settling into Humboldt County.

Sharing Words of Wisdom on Move-In Day

Amid lugging bags and books and settling into residence halls, we stopped some families and asked them to share words of advice with their students.

Stay focused; have fun; value your professor's time; pick up the phone when I call. The families we talked to were beaming with pride and even the students had great tips for their parents.

Student Send-off

The Humboldt Alumni office hosted Student Send-off parties in Los Angeles and Sacramento for incoming students and their families. They were great afternoons filled with meeting new Lumberjacks, eating delicious food and hearing from inspiring alumni/parents.

Arando Ibarra-Espinoza Running’s personal rewards have long been documented—improved health being the most prevalent. But recent Humboldt State alum Armando Ibarra-Espinoza (’14, Kinesiology) has focused his fitness on benefitting others, most recently by competing in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s double marathon in San Francisco.
