Volunteer Opportunities

Lend a Hand at Freshman
Move-In Day

Forever Humboldt is looking for a few volunteers to help with Freshman move-in day on Tuesday, August 18. We'll be providing shuttle buses to help students get from the Arcata Bus Depot to the campus residence halls. We’ll also be handing out laundry bags and welcoming new students and their families to campus. To learn more about this volunteer opportunity, email forever@humboldt.edu or call 707-826-3132.

Become an Alumni Ambassador

Share your enthusiasm for Humboldt by reaching out to students in your local area. The HSU Alumni Ambassador program allows HSU Alumni to give back in a meaningful way by offering prospective students an idea of what life is like at Humboldt State.

Participants will be provided with all the information and guidance they need to be a great Alumni Ambassador, plus a free gift for helping us out.

Here are some ways our Alumni Ambassadors are getting involved:

  • Attending college fairs
  • Adopting a high school
  • Attending HSU information sessions
  • Participating in online events

To learn more about this program, contact HSU Admissions Counselor Tesia Johnson, at LYJ1@humboldt.edu or fill out an interest form online.

Thank You Advisory Group!

During the last academic year, a group of more than 50 alumni shared their ideas, thoughts, and stories about the University with HSU President Lisa Rossbacher. The Presidential Alumni Advisory Group had participants from across the country and from different age groups. They responded to questions throughout the year, providing a valuable alumni perspective as President Rossbacher learned about Humboldt during her first year. Thank you!

Director Departs

This month we’re sending best wishes to Christy Khattab, a proud HSU alum who served in our Office of Alumni & Engagement for three years, including two as Director. Christy has taken a marketing position with Cypress Grove Chevre, better known as “makers of that tasty Humboldt Fog goat cheese.” During her time, Christy coordinated a 23-stop national birthday party for HSU’s Centennial Year and helped convert our Alumni Association into a group for the broader University community called Forever Humboldt.
