A Farewell to President Richmond
June 30 marked President Rollin Richmond's last day in office as he makes way for incoming President Lisa Rossbacher to take over as head of the university. Facebook, LinkedIn and Flickr offer great opportunities to connect with HSU Alumni. Recently we asked our Facebook community members what their favorite memories of Humboldt were. Here are some of your answers:
Andrea Tyler Private-school size at a state-school price, excellent Government & Politics (Political Science) program, rural (amazing!) setting, clubs and orbs (YES! House/G.P.A.!), access to resources and professors as an undergrad.
Brittney Cathey-Adams I still didn't know what I wanted in my life but I knew the Art and Journalism departments were fantastic. And sure enough that Studio Art BA set me up for my newly acquired MFA just perfectly!
Patrick Brunmeier I chose Humboldt for soooo many reasons.
Diane Rocha I followed my husband up there. We have so many wonderful memories of Humboldt and Arcata. If I had to do it all over again, I'd do it in a second. we dream of retiring there someday!
Nina Griesert My art teacher at Berkeley High 1982 said I should move to Humboldt and marry a farmer. Also my photography teacher suggested taking classes from Tom Knight. He was fantastic.
Martin Colon My choices were Cal State LA, Long Beach State or Humboldt. Needed to get as far away from home, South Central, but still be in California. So Humboldt it was and it's the best decision I've made in my life as a young person.
Tom Langkau I transferred from UCLA: wanted to escape the city and classes with 500 students in them. I also met my wife of 32 years there and I just enjoyed living behind the "Redwood Curtain!"
