HSU Takes Sustainable Ice Bucket Challenge

Humboldt State is serious about sustainability. So when Chico State challenged HSU to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the first response was “Great! But how do we do it without letting a single drop of water go to waste?” Humboldt’s solution? Use the biggest bucket in the world: The Pacific Ocean.

Humboldt State students, staff, and faculty completed their “sustainable” ice bucket challenge at Trinidad Beach on Sept. 12, all in an effort raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). With water temperatures at 53°, participants got their share of chills, and everyone enjoyed getting wet for a great cause.
