Humboldt Admissions Requirements

First Time Freshmen

You will qualify for admission to Humboldt if you:

Transcripts and Other Documents Needed for Applicants:

Official SAT or ACT scores (there are often posted on high school transcripts)
High school transcripts (official). They must be sent directly by the high school to Humboldt. The final one you send Humboldt must contain your date of graduation and verify completion of all subject requirements and gpa eligibility.
Advanced Placement results (optional; must be official and score of 3 or higher for college credit)
If you took the GED or a state high school proficiency test instead of graduating, please have your high school send an official copy of the work you completed, along with your official proficiency test results. If you took the GED, please have the agency which administered the test send one official copy of the results to Humboldt.

How many college units (credits) will you complete by the term you wish to enroll at Humboldt?

Fewer than 60 transferable semester units (or 90 quarter units) - follow the Lower Division Transfers section below
60 or more transferable semester units - follow the Upper Division Transfers section below

You must meet the eligibility requirements for first-time freshmen, including high school graduation (or equivalent) and all of the following:

A grade of C or better in all college preparatory subjects in high school
Satisfactory "Eligibility Index" - calculated using your high school grade point average and your SAT or ACT test scores. If you had a high school gpa of 3.0 or higher (3.61 for non-California residents), we won't need SAT or ACT scores. An overall grade point average of at least 2.0 in all of your transferable college courses.
All required subjects must be completed before your first term at Humboldt!
You must be eligible to return to all of your past colleges. Unresolved financial holds or suspensions will prevent your enrollment at Humboldt.

You must complete at least 60 transferable semester (or 90 quarter) college units, with at least a 2.0 overall grade point average (2.4 for non-California residents).
Within those 60 units, you must complete at least 30 units of general education (GE) coursework, as defined in your present college catalog, with grades of C- or higher.
As part of those 30 GE units, you must complete, with C- or better, all four of these subject areas:
1. Written Communication (College English)
2. Oral Communication (Speech)
3. Critical Thinking
4. Math/Quantitative Reasoning (must be above the level of intermediate algebra
All required subjects must be completed before your first term at Humboldt! Fall applicants: English and math courses must be completed before summer begins.
