Notes for March 4, 2010

The committee came up with a charge to work collaboratively to give better access to data users on campus. Even though we have experts in individual areas, others need access to their data, and the data is not always readily available.

The committee specifically agreed to look at several areas that are campus-wide issues:

  1. Creating one wiki where all technical data documentation is stored
  2. Utilizing sharepoint more universally, including training
  3. Creating a centralized data request form campus wide-possibly using K box

Current issues with data:
No history in Financial Aid since the changeover to Banner
Problems with accessing and accuracy in HR data
Migrating Banner data over to People Soft for historical student data records
Migrating financial data to the new CFS
