This project will enable HSU to participate in the multi-campus CSU Cyberinfrastructure Data Center Initiative pilot project, which is exploring the potential benefits of moving campus-based server resources to the cloud without incurring the kind of cost it would take to do this alone. Over the longer term, shifting data center operations to the cloud will enable the campus to more quickly and efficiently take advantage of new technologies for the benefit of the entire campus.
01/28/2014: This systemwide initiative with CENIC is no longer happening. HSU will instead create local selection criteria and either start a new local project or select an upcoming project to pilot in the cloud.
9/24/13: CENIC reports that contracts with the cloud vendors should be completed by the end of October 2013.
6/27/13: The RFP committee has made its final recommendations to CENIC; contract negotiations with recommended vendors are under way. CENIC is verifying with its major contituents (CSU, UC and community colleges) that all the necessary competitive purchasing requirements have been met so institutions can use these contracts without further procurement hurdles. Current goal is to have contracts in place by the start of fall term.
1/30/13: The review of responses to the CENIC RFP is scheduled for April and vendor presentations are expected to take place in June. The next update will be posted at that time.
12/20/12: Continuing to wait for CENIC.
11/26/12: Waiting for the CENIC RFP process to be completed.
10/30/12: Continuing to wait for vendor selection.
9/26/12: Proposals are under review, with discussions to begin the week of 10/1/12. Vendor selection is expected to be completed by late October/early November.
8/13/12: CSU and CENIC have issued an RFP. It is unlikely that campus involvement will start until a shortlist of possible vendors has been drawn up.
5/8/12: Project approved and scheduled to start 6/1/12.
