Supplemental Instruction

Download the list of SI courses offered for the Fall 2016 semester.

Supplemental Instruction (SI), provides an opportunity for students to study with peer leaders. These sessions are scheduled for rigorous entry-level and core science and math courses from several departments. The two 50 minute peer-facilitated sessions per week for the assigned course are designed to help students develop course specific academic and study skills. Participants review course content as well.

SI leaders will share the strategies they used to be successful in the course, answer questions over lecture and reading topics, conduct review activities, give practice quizzes and conduct review activities.

SI for Science classes:

  • Biology 102, 104, 105 and 340
  • Bot 105
  • Chemistry 107, 109, 110 and 328
  • Phyx 106
  • Zool 110

Supplemental Instruction courses all start the first week of classes. Interested students can now openly enroll in these courses through their student center. Due to the change in the add/drop deadline, there are only a few weeks to get into SI, so register now to ensure there is a spot.

SI for Math 115 classes:

MATH 115 students are in luck because there will be Supplemental Instruction classes for all the MATH 115 classes.

Because this is a pilot, students will not register for a Math 115 SI course for a unit. Instead, participants are expected to attend SI twice a week for the semester. SI will fill up on a first-come first serve basis. Announcements will be made the first week of classes in the Math 115 lecture. Spots are limited and students may lose priority if they do not attend on a regular basis. Students who are interested in drop-in math support can instead use the math tutoring lab.

Supplemental Instruction for Biol 104 is generously supported by Associated Students.
