Area A = Basic Subjects. (9 lower division units) To include:

  • ENGL 102/103 or ENG 104–First Year Reading & Composition (3)
  • COMM 100 – Fundamentals of Speech Communication (3)
  • Critical Thinking. See catalog list. (3)

Area B = Math and Science. (9 lower division units) At least 3 units in each catagory - one must have a laboratory)

  • Life Forms (BIO 102 or 104 or 105) (3)
  • Math Concepts & Quantitative Reasoning (3)
  • Physical Universe (GEOL 108 or 109, or OCN 109) (3 or 4)

Area C = Arts and Humanities. See catalog list. (9 lower division units - minimum of one course in each subarea)

Depth of Study, 9 Units

Must have a "C-" or better in all major requirements.

LSEE Depth of Study Areas

All LSEE students are required to take 9 units of a depth of study area. Depth of Study areas are: American Indian Education, Mathematics, Science, Studio Art, History/Social Sciences, Teaching English as a Second Language, Human Development: Child Development or Psychology, Music, Creative Dramatics, Spanish, or Physical Education. Depth of Study

LSEE students may also want to earn a Subject Matter Authorization in a core subject area of English, Math, Arts, Physical Education, Languages, and Science.
