I am sad to inform you of the death of Michael Athey, who was a custodian in Housing and Dining. His family has shared that he passed away on Feb. 24.
On behalf of the campus, I want to express our deepest condolences. I know this is a difficult time for many members of our campus community, particularly his family, friends and colleagues.
Michael had worked on campus since 2007. He was known for being friendly and courteous to students, and always being willing to take on special assignments when requested. He had a good sense of humor, and a relaxed and quiet personality.
Once again, let me offer our campus community’s deepest condolences to all those who were close to Michael. Our thoughts are with you, and we are here to support you.
Any students in need of additional support are urged to consider contacting the Counseling Center on campus at 826-3236. Staff or faculty seeking additional support may utilize the Employee Assistance Program at 443-7358.
