Welcome back to campus! I hope you had a wonderful winter break and enjoyed your time with family and friends.
We have certainly missed you during the last few weeks. Walking across the Quad or trekking up to Founders Hall just isn’t the same when you are away.
As you start classes this spring, please know that everyone who works here is rooting for you. We want you to have a great experience at Humboldt State. We want you to learn, to grow, and to achieve many successes during your time here.
This commitment by faculty and staff was on display last week when I was honored to introduce this year’s 10 HSU staff award recipients at the Spring Welcome for campus employees. The awardees have responsibilities ranging from budgeting to facilities maintenance to food service, and they are clearly good in those roles, but what really stood out, as I read through the nomination packets, was their personal commitment to helping HSU students be successful. That’s what energizes them to come to work every day.
When you enrolled at Humboldt State, you became part of a close and caring community. This is a place where you make meaningful connections and have a second home where people are committed to helping you reach your educational dreams. Your professors, the staff, other students, and many local residents are all a part of this. Alumni tell me that this strong sense of community is one of the things they most value about their Humboldt experience.
I look forward to seeing you on campus and learning about your projects and activities. Have a great semester.
With best wishes,
Lisa A. Rossbacher, Ph.D.
