Dear Campus Community:
Join me in congratulating Professor James Floss, the 2011/2012 Excellence in Teaching Award - Lecturer recipient, and Professor Terry Henkel, the 2011/2012 Scholar of the Year Award recipient, as recommended by the University Senate.
Professor Floss, a lecturer in the Department of Communication, receives this award based on the "consistent excellence of his teaching and the well documented impact that James has had on his students over the past 26 years" as noted by the Faculty Awards Committee.
Professor Henkel, who joined HSU in 2002, is recognized as HSU's Scholar of the Year based on his "...extensive publication record and testimonials from his professional colleagues that Dr. Henkel has established himself as a leader in fungal ecology and tropical biology."
We will celebrate their accomplishments at a reception on Tuesday, April 24, 5:30-7:00 at Baywood Golf and Country Club. Professors Floss and Henkel will also be invited to present a public lecture during the 2012-2013 academic year.
Please also join me in congratulating recipients of the Alistair McCrone Promising Faculty Scholars Award who are being recognized this semester by the Sponsored Programs Foundation. Congratulations to Professor Robert Cliver, Department of History, Professor Daniela Mineva, Department of Music, and Professor John-Pascal Berrill, Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources, for their scholarly achievements and exceptional contributions to their field.
