At Humboldt State, the Mathematical Modeling program gives you the unique opportunity to interact with those in other disciplines to provide a context for the math you are working on. You get exposure to the practical use of your work in fields such as biology, forestry, and fisheries.
The program is distinguished by its low student-to-faculty ratio and high level of faculty mentoring. HSU is located on the North Coast of California, in a beautiful, remote setting with easy access to a variety of outdoor activities. The abundant natural resources offer a living laboratory for research as well as opportunities for fun.
The Mathematical Modeling office is housed in the new state-of-the-art Behavioral and Social Sciences Building completed in 2008. The building is LEED Gold-certified (What is LEED Certification?) for its sustainable building design and features lecture rooms, research space, offices and computing labs. Students who teach will have office space just across the hall from their faculty mentors.
